A lot of time I do not like to think too hard about the kind of bag I use. I know a lot of people who shop around all the time and own a lot of bags. I know some guys who are like this too. Who ever said that vanity was only for women was completely wrong and prejudiced too. So each to their own, I guess. But I prefer to keep things simple and cheap. So I have tried very hard to narrow down the number of silly choices I have to make, especially in the morning when I just want to shower, have coffee and head off to work without having to stress my brain trying to figure out which backpack or bag I should use to tote my laptop and notes to work.
So this is my shortlist of bags. My favourite sort is the canvas messenger bag. Why, you may ask? The answer is simple. I find that messenger bags are among the most functional and practical sorts of bags out there. They can carry a lot. They sit comfortably on the shoulder. They can easily carry a laptop computer and they look pretty good too. I like to go for canvas messenger bags because they look really vintage. They are also quite cheap in comparison with other sorts of bags made from synthetic fibres. And they are eco-friendly too because of their natural composition. Now I guess they may not last as long as the other sort, but I’ve had many years of happy use out of mine. I use a laptop sleeve with some padding to protect my laptop, but that is not a big deal for me. Although it is true that dedicated laptop cases have better padding built in. I just make sure I am careful. The only thing that would make me give up mine was if I was to buy an iPad as in that case I would want to get a dedicated iPad messenger bag that offers a bit more protection.
