Handbags have come a long way from the days of total functionality and zero concern for style. In fairness that is going back quite a while in history because when is the last time you heard a women say she doesn't care about what her handbag looks like (or any facet of her fashion for that matter)?

These days the level of expectation is very high. Not only does a bag need to be highly usable and convenient, it also needs to look great too. Depending on the type of bag this can sometimes be a challenge. No matter what you do you are just not going to fit everything you'd like to bring a small wristlet. The good news though is that for the most part handbag styles are trending toward the over-sized large bags. Not only is this great because it's going to make you look up top date and in style, but there is also going to be tons of room so that you can bring everything you can think of. Some of the most current over-sized styles are literally so close in size to luggage that technically if you wanted to carry them onto a plane on your next trip they would be too large (although the airlines hardly ever give you a hard time about purses and handbags).

So when you are thinking about all types of handbags, whether you are looking for one of these over-sized stylish options or if you are more in the market for a small wristlet or clutch remember there are two key factors. One, like anything we do in life, we gotta look good! And two be realistic about what you are expecting of your new bag. If it's meant to just bring your lipstick and you ID, then that is all that's going to fit. Live with it, and start shopping for a larger handbag
